Okay so i got my rig up and running now,GTX 460 (overclocked) + a 8800GT (stock) for Dedicated Physx,I enabled the 8800GT as dedicated Physx in the Nvidia Control panel and all is well,I tried it out on Mafia 2 with Apex Physx enabled and on High.

However watching both my Gpus activity in Msi Afterburner my 460 is doing about 86% activity, and the 8800GT is only doing about 5% activity...does this not seem right?..im also getting occasional random lag during the gameplay which lasts a few seconds then returns to normal...fps is around 60fps..something does not seem right.

Physx is working, because theres alot more detail in the game,Screens below...there was not this much debris with no Physx card.

I ran 3D Mark 06 with my system all stock with the 460 only,Then i ran 3D Mark 06 with the 8800GT as Physx, again system all stock and my score actually went down by 3 marks  :D

I think the 8800GT won't work that well for a PhysX card to be honest.

You'd probably want something like a 260 as the 8800GT has a lot less GPU power than the 460 so the 460 has to take over more often.

Really?..I heard for a decent dedicated Physx card you dont want to use anything less than a 8600GT...i have a 8800GT 512mb so i assumed this would be fine.

Nah 8800GT is bare minimum for the PhysX and you want newer or bigger for best performance.

Well im not buying another card just for Physx, only reason i tried this is because i had the 8800 lying around,But from what you say it must be right. :/

Right here the Arkham Asylum bench...This game runs very smooth,No lag like in Mafia 2 (I think Vsync was on)

All settings maxed @ 1680x1050 -Physx HIGH.

GTX 460 alone (Doing rendering + Physx)

GTX 460 (Rendering) + 8800 (Physx)

Looks to me like the 8800 is holding back slightly.

ive noticed though now,In Mafia 2 it only lags at the start when i move its jerky...then after a few seconds its fine.

looks to me like the 8800 is not loading up properly :)

even though its just for physx, i think it should show bigger load numbers.

then again i usually pair an nv card with an ati one which has no physx to boot so..:)

I don't know what you're doing to get that high of FPS out of a 8800.... either way, a 8800 is the the 'fulcrum' point of physX cards. At 112 CUDA cores, you will get acceptable PhysX results but it's going to be a bottleneck on many PhysX titles (for getting a smooth 60fps). For mafia 2, I really suggest you run on Medium PhysX. If you don't trust me, watch my youtube videos comparing High to Medium PhysX, YouTube - klizilii's Channel . I've had a lot of driver related nightmares with my GT 240 PhysX card (changing my dx 11 to dx 10.1, no SLI scaling in Just cause 2, etc)! The best (I find) is to install the main GPU(s) and then install the 260.99 drivers. THEN (with your computer off of course) plug in the PhysX card and just boot your computer and set it as a dedicated PhysX card in the NCP. I did not find any loss in performance by using this method and was able to keep the dx 11 status of my computer. Still, even as a bottle neck (the 8800 can't do PhysX as fast as your 460 can do graphics), your 8800 will get you better Mafia 2 PhysX results than just the 460 doing graphics + PhysX.

My 240 runs at 50-58% usage when running the insane computer breaking benchmark with PhysX enabled.
