Dell U2711 or U3011 ?

So looking on the dell website the U2711 comes up on sale, $799.00(i know NCIX will PM from Best Direct and i can get it right away, but you lose the 3yr warranty buying outside of dell, NCIX is 1yr) the U3011 a little more.

So my question is to the owners out there, 27 or 30, i mean 30 seems too big, im not a professional user, this is purely for gaming, Ive decided my 3 x 24" Samsung 2494SW are'nt cutting it, and i want something bigger and better. My desk has articulating arms for my monitors and the 27 will fit on one no problem. the depth of my desk is about 30". I'm just looking for some additional input, i mean 900 bones for a LCD monitor seems a bit extreme, but i could swing it.

Do i need to go to S-IPS panel? i know the trend is for 1920x1080.

thanks as always forum members!!!!

I'm a fan of 27 inchers. 2560x1440 is a fantastic resolution. Plenty of vertical real estate but not enough that you need to look up and down all the time causing eye strain.

u3011 is almost double of the price of u2711... anyhow... the performance of u2711 is better than u3011 on some reviews... so get u2711 for hot deal...

i bought my u2711 for 780 when it was on sale on dells website. at that price there is no reason to go with the u3011, iirc they are very similar. if we are talking regular pricing it wouldnt be much more to opt for the 30" and would make sense, but at the sale price the u2711 goes on its a great deal.

with lowfat...love my 27 Dell
I bought mine before you! ;)

U2711 is stunning. Perfect size, perfect resolution IMO. And you should be able to get it for around $750-800 depending on Dell sales or through BestDirect.

if youre pondering than it makes a difference to thine pocket, sir.

thus, 27 incher all the way. and yes, if money was no issue, you would like the 30 incher better

its the same going from a 21 to a 24. just bigger=better?, but oh the pocket :p

The 3011 is just huge man, i don't think anyone really needs that other than professionals for very specific work... And if I read that right, you want 3x 27"????
