Emulation is actually quite brutal for some systems. N64 being an example of something that will bring an overclocked 8gb rpi4 to near slide show frame rates for some games. Where genesis (sega cd, 32x as well), SNES, and Gameboy/game gear stuff will be fine. Anything more than that cN be hit and miss.

Not Android, but using Retroarch on my Iphone 13 with a 8BitDo Lite 2 Bluetooth Gamepad.

Been working great with that setup. Playing games from Atari / Colecovison to N64 / PS1 no problem.

However, I must admit I did not test N64 a lot, only Mario64 🥸

Edit : Some fixes

I've done some emulation on my Nvidia -powered tablets over the years. Maybe it's because they're nvidia, but I haven't had issues, even with some newer(ish) platforms. Most recent example would be PS1 emulating Symphony of the Night on my Pixel C. Runs pretty darn good. Do you want me to try others? I can try N64 if that's a possible hurdle.
