Does no one fold anymore?

In the effort to reduce my consumption, Ive done a bunch of work.
I've shut off folding, and I've shutoff my second rig.
------
I went and bought 200$ worth of led's to replace the last fucking hotwires in my house.
-----

Folding was 1000 watts continuous .
While not continuous, I've replaced these :

That's 1500 watts of fucking hotwire bulbs.........
137 watts now, to have more light !

:ROFLMAO:
All together , that’s going to be a notable difference.

I'm surprised you still had that many filament bulbs left in your house. I've still got a few CFL kicking around, but I'm guessing it's been at least 5 years since I did away with the last incandescent bulb (except for the single one still rocking in the oven, and that has me wondering if I can still buy one for high/low temps, or what they have as a replacement since I thought IBs were no longer legal for sale.

Greed killed folding, and I have zero compassion nor remorse for whatever befalls those that thought lining their pockets with "free" money was more important than saving lives via protein folding.
Not really. When COVID came and Linus did his video on Folding@Home, there weren't enough WU so you couldn't fold even if you wanted to. A lot of GPUs were sitting by idling and doing nothing. Now that crypto mining is dead, people are folding again. I'm fairly sure the amount of work being done right now is greater than ever before, excluding the COVID spike.

Yeah,a plastic bulb will not work very well in the oven. Most of the even "relatively pleasant" LED bulbs we have tried seem to be quite beamy, which is not desireable. Hard to match that "Madly Off In All Directions" effect of the filament. The lower power is nice though.

I'll happily accept your GPU as a donation, the one that you mined with, and you use it as a paperweight now.

I was a super early adopter.
I bought in at gen1 Philips bulbs....still have a couple.
the only bulbs available then were 'STD lightbulb' and 'flood bulb'......things like 'chandelier' and wierd round bathroom bulbs were not around.
