Just subscribed to Steam over the weekend so I could get my all time favorite game.

X-COM Enemy Unknown.

I never liked all the ones that came after it, but that one was always a good game. And of course, its been a time vampire for me lol.

Top of my head:

Great Naval battles w Expansions
Master of Orion 1/2
Worms
Wing Commander
IceMan
Kings quest series
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe
Aces of the Pacific
F19 Stealth Fighter
Red Storm Rising *(god I loved the old Keyboard overlays for games)*

Original Civ, Elite (anybody else remember how big a pita it was to dock until you got the auto docker??? ;) ), damn near every non-linear RPG released.

I remember Elite... getting that rotational speed just right! What a pain, as you say :)

Original Civ, Bard's Tale and the SSI war game Kampfgruppe.

The first Command and Conquer is what got me into games in a hardcore way.

Before that it was Commander Keen. They need to make a gritty reboot of that franchise.

Same here, C&C was awesome. Civ was good, but was never into the doom games.

My favorite "old time" game was 'Law of the West' on the C64 though.. I can still remember the theme music.. it's engrained in me.

Oh, I loved Origin stuff too. Hundreds of hours spent in the Wing Commander series. Those and X-Wing / Tie Fighter occupied most of my gaming time for a few years.
