is it worth it, or is it another massive time void?
I'm not sure I understand the question... It's a video game right? ;)

I think it's great. I'm having a great time. It's freakin hard, but good fun imo. Yes it will consume a lot of time though I'd say unless you are especially good at Souls games, and then still it's pretty massive.

I'm pretty experienced with the Souls genre, and I'm used to a bit of grinding but damn once I made it to the fourth major area of the map (The Mountain of the Giants) I hit a huge wall. I'm having a pretty tough time with the Fire Giant and I'm pretty under levelled probably, But I just don't have it in me to grind further. For now this game is going to go on the back burner a bit. Another thing that really bothers me is that it seems like the enemies don't really have much of an AI. It seems to me that the game is programmed to wait for your button input and then instantly responds while you are healing or something. Sure there was probably some of this in previous games but it is so blatant in this one.

That's interesting to hear you say that as an experienced player of this style. I was wondering.

I find some enemies really feel that way, and then others I can more easily figure out what they are doing, how to avoid it, and it at least "feels" less like they know exactly what I am going to do and when.

Overall though the game feels less locked in for lack of a better word than others and that is making me enjoy it. By that I mean I hate it when an enemy queues up an animation for an attack, and you clearly see it and are miles away by the time it ends, but then they rubberband to you, or hit you anyway because you were in range when they started. I don't find this game does that and allows you to actually dodge if you do it correct. I don't do it correctly very often yet is seems, but it does happen! ;)

Got back to it today. Finished up the story. Level 117.
Level 25 here :) I'm still not even sure if I understand what the main story is yet! It is appearing slowly, I think mostly through when Melina talks to me at sites of grace?

You know, I guess thats a big advantage of frame locking games. Opens it up to wider hardware req's!

On the final boss on play through 2. Tried to do every boss this time. Funny how I tried a new build but by the time I reached the end my build is almost identical to play through 1.

Anyway, will save it for tomorrow. My 9 year old begged me to save it so he can see the ending as my wife was telling him to go to bed.
