yeah early 2021, in fdev terms is probably either late Q1 or Mid Q2.
Sure, but even if that's the case that isn't wrong right? I consider at least any time in Q1 to be early 2021. They're not nailing down an exact date. That's fine. Better that than "we are releasing on date X !!!" then delayed... delayed... delayed... at least imo anyway.

Damn, I'm actually getting excited for this and I haven't touched ED in many months... Time to get my ass in gear and finish relocating and rebuilding my sim PC.

Now Free! But still boring.
I never got anything out of this game.
Is it good looking: Yes!
Does it suck you in: Yes!
Is there anything interesting to do on a regular basis: No.

The developers of Elite dangerous, Star Citizen, and Everspace need to get together and make an actual game out of space exploration and combat.

Definitely a "to-each-his-own" type game. But that is a poor dead horse that we have already beaten a lot! 😃 If you like it play it. If you don't, well don't. Lots of games out there for every taste. I've certainly gone through dry spells in Elite, but I still like it.

Some Odyssey Q&A info:

Still absolutely NO info that I've seen anywhere about interaction between ships and soldiers. I really, really, Really feel strongly that for this game to be a true Vehicle + FPS, the two need to be able to interact directly. The AMA answers if cosmetic parts of the ship will be cover for fps fights 🤣🤣🤣, wow... Who cares?!?

You want real questions to answer Frontier? Answer these:
1- Will I be able to transport troops - PCs and/or NPCs kitted for ground soldier combat - to the front lines in my Keelback?
2- Can I perform a bombing run against enemy turret nests in my Fer de Lance?
3- Can I drop a nuke or other high altitude bomb at a structure with an Anaconda? Will such explosions affect terrain?
4- Can fighters escort ANY of the above to provide a realistic use for something like a Vulture?

There's a million more questions like it, but those are a start. For ED to be a successful combination of both genres, at least some of the above need to be answered "Yes", and the way that Frontier and the ED devs have given precisely nadda information along these lines so far is... Disheartening, to say the least.

I think I've said it before, possibly even in this thread, but I'll say it again: the best vehicle + fps games I ever played, Battlefield 3/4/1942 and Quake Wars, allowed for vehicles and ground warfare to happen simultaneously and seamlessly. One of the most rewarding experiences I ever had in ANY fps was ferrying soldiers to capture points in a transport then switching to low altitude ground support gunship combat. How hard can it be for AAA game makers to achieve that in 2021? I suppose I'll find out.

For now at least, Odyssey remains a question mark that will Not be getting my money.

As we keep saying... we shall remain at best cautiously optimistic :p

If I was guessing I would answer your questions this way (just guessing):

1. Nope, at least not beyond what multicrew already provides. So they need a seat in the ship, not just standing in the cargo hold like you can do in Star Citizen (SC).

2. I would think so yes. Some of the gameplay reveals showed players on foot and ships landing in the same scene or setting.

3. Can you bomb anything that way now when you attack a ground station? I know you can destroy turrets. I would not expect the terrain to be deformable. That'd be a pretty huge engine change I would think.

4. I think yes for that one too.

One outstanding question I have is how you move from ship, to SRV, to station in Odyssey. By that I mean do I get up out of my seat, walk though my ship and then exit into the SRV or station, again like what SC already does, or do I just disappear and reappear in the other location; from the ship to SRV, from the ship to station lobby, from the ship to on ground on foot.

I'll still like the additions if it doesn't do that, but it is immersion breaking to not have control over that movement. It's a very cool Han Solo type feeling in SC when you land, walk through your ship, lower the ramp and then walk out onto a distant world or station all under your own control and in a seamless world.

I'm interested to see how multi crew works. TBH I got worn out with basic combat having to fly, select weapons, and alter power management all at the same time. Having a dedicated helm and weapons officer would be pretty cool.
I remember playing Descent II with my brother back in the day that way. Sure you could do that locally but online would be cool.
