I noticed they mentioned it's "free". I'm assuming these means FTP with microtransactions or something right?

That's how I understand it, free-to-play with additional content or features (potentially) offered at a cost. Similar to how Lord of the Rings Online or Everquest 2 extended would operate.

What those features of content would be I have no idea, just basing my assumption off of how other F2P games seem to operate.

This looks interesting. Looks more like one of my types of MMO's but will only play if it is free to play like guild wars. I am never going to pay a subscription fee for any game.
