First round of Harmony remotes no longer supported

Any earlier gen remotes I bought for myself or others are long dead. Software not being maintained already made it hit and miss in the first place.

I used a Harmony One remote for about 20 years with no problems - thing is amazing and still works well, but I did move on a couple of years ago, thanks to eARC. I was shocked when I learned that the whole harmony branch was struggling many years ago because I always found it to be an amazing product (though I have tried other lesser harmony models on family and friends' systems and liked them a little less).

I'm still using my old original one, can't recall the model numbers, and I don't really like the newer ones just because my old one doesn't need anything fancy, no receiver or anything additional to work. Buttons are getting flaky though so eventually it will have to be replaced with something...

The "one" really was a step above the other models. (I do actually like the remotes even if finicky at times)

I was really hoping they'd open source it. Or at least release their database so offline programming would be possible.

I have 2 Harmony Hub w/ companion remotes and love them. The alternatives honestly aren't as good and are like $300.

wow. wonder why they gave up on them when peeps are still using them 20+ years later. crazy!
The only people that could program them had to have a clue. Prevented a lot of average users from buying and programming them efficiently. Software sucked and was clunky.

So they didn't really make for a great mass market item. And now so many people just have a single remote with a smart TV, combined with arc or optical to a sound bar average user just doesn't need the type of capabilities they offer anymore.

The people with full recievers and more are the minority.
