Welcome to Hardwarecanucks!!! Always nice to see a new face in here.

I'd question 3 of your choices.....

1/ Memory..... Not sure if you clicked on the wrong link, but out of everything, it's the one that sticks out as "one of these things just doesn't belong here".....

You should be looking for at least a set of PC2 6400 and hopefully not some value ram.

If you read through the other post (where you posted) you'll see that memory prices / brands are fairly cyclic, so the best bet would be to have a look the week you are planning on purchasing.

2/ X-Fi extreme audio.... you'd be just a well off with your on-board. :)

3/ I'd avoid that particular WC kit, I'm not seeing anything listed at DC but NCIX has a couple of decent kits for $150 - $200.

One last point.... I'm not a huge gamer myself, but I noticed that you had chosen the "ultra" version of vid card.... The "ultra" does indeed put out super impressive points, but generally the extra boost of an ultra isn't a very good "bang for your buck" choice. (Nothing wrong with choosing it, but you might get a better return for your money if you downgraded it one point, and dropped the coin on something else like memory.... :) ).

Hi there

Glad to see youve found time to pop by.

Well im no expert but if I were in your very wealthy shoes i would not buy the ultra and would funnel the dollars into the RAM and case.

BFG8800GTX OC/OC2 are at a really good price point right now and clocked up to 626mhz.

The extra 200-250 dollars could be spread out to some faster high quality RAM and a larger case for improved airflow and cable/WC management.

Those Lian cases are a work of art by the way!

Also have you considered 2900XT in crossfire? Same price as an ultra pretty much and packs a hell of a punch. Although that psu would need to be improved.

have fun...........

Drop the 8800 Ultra and get the 8800GTX. The ultra is merely an overclocked GTX.

Don't buy such crappy RAM either, get at least PC6400 or higher. The Mushkin HP2 is pretty nice RAM IMO, but it's overpriced on DirectCanada. At Canada Comptuers it's only like $120.

The X-Fi XtremeAudio is a waste of money really, it's not a true X-Fi card. Missing a lot of features. Either get a higher model or don't get one at all.

I would seriously pass on the MX5000 set. Look at the Logitech forums, it's plagued with issues. Get like a G15 and mouse of your choice. I have the MX5000 myself and it just randomly lags out at times. Really not good. Also sometimes a key will get "stuck" (not physically).

Those RAID edition hard drives are a waste of money to me, but thats up to you.

That watercooling kit is a waste of money IMO, a good heatsink would probably perform better. If you want watercooling, look into the Swiftech or NCIX kits. Something with a dual-120mm rad at least for that quad-core alone.

Thats just my thoughts. I know it's all negative, but stuff to consider.
