Shout out to Cpt Vortex for the trading an AMD heatsink for a bag of candy. Turns out I actually have one in a box of crap my friend gave me along with two towers but Vortex's unit was better (heatpiped vs lump of metal).

Just wanted to give a shout out to Ravenor for his sale of RAM to me. I can't do official feedback here as there is no deal URL on HWC this time, but wanted to give him a positive bump somehow. I had a bit of an odd timeline as I was travelling with intermittent access to WiFi and he was patient through all that and we were able to complete the sale.

Thanks Ravenor!

I'd like to give MAD props to Memory Express in Edmonton West, and in particular Anthony. Took it in and chatted with Anthony. He was very attentive and listened to how I troubleshot, and asked pertinent questions. I guess he figured I actually knew what I was talking about and not just 'another one of those guys' that I'm sure these shops get all the time. I also name dropped Hardware Canucks and he said he was quite familiar with us  He didnt tell me his forum handle though :haha:

Anthony pulled up my customer account and saw that all the gear minus the ram was purchased from them, grabbed a Pentium G 5500 brand new off the shelf, ripped it open and put it in. Computer booted up no problem!

So they took back the EVGA PSU I used to troubleshoot, full refund. And the golden part was they didnt even charge me a diagnosis fee. :shok: I'm super happy with their customer service, how couldnt I be?! They were even willing to RMA on the spot with shelf stock, no questions asked.

So, whoever your are on the forums Anthony, thanks!
