I recently had the privilege of transfer a friends hardware from a Thermaltake Level 10 GT chassis to the original Level 10. The case is very unique to say the least. There are few things I think Thermaltake could have stepped up on considering the price, but it's still an excellent chassis overall.

Here's a pic displaying the original L10 and L10 GT. The L10 is quite a bit larger, and A LOT heavier. I'm not sure of it's overall weight, but you better have a strong back when it's loaded!!

I guess I'll start with the installation of the PSU. It's compartment is in the top at the rear of the chassis as they used to be, not in the bottom. I thought this was an interesting approach by Thermaltake. But I guess since all the components have their own compartments they could design in such a way they can pretty well put things where ever they liked as long as cables would reach, and they all did with no issues.

Next I installed the DVD Burner. It installs with screws as any other "regular" case. Nothing really fancy here.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, make sure you have a really long sata cable for this! A 19 inch cable barely reaches.

Now to install the hard drive. Ugh.... this was one of the areas I wasn't impressed with!!

The caddies are a little cumbersome to line up properly when sliding them back into the chassis. I'm not sure why exactly, but they are.

Also....... and this is my biggest bitch...... you can only install TWO drives into this case as is out of the box! That's right. There are 6 friggin' drive bays but it's only set up to install 2 drives. Why? What the hell!?!?! This is an $800 chassis and they couldn't set them all up? I couldn't believe it!

So there are only 2 sata backplanes and 2 fans installed into the top 2 bays. You'll have to fork out more cash for 4 more of these if you want to populate all the drives. Welcome to Thermaltake

This case has a removable mobo tray, which makes things a little easier. However due to the design of this case it's absolutely necessary. The way the footing of the chassis is designed among a few other things you can't lay it on it's side to install the main guts.

Now for the reason I said "a little easier". :haha:
Slik's H100 in the GT obviously can't be installed in the L10. So we made a swap and I put in my H80. Even though it's kind of my own fault, you can see in the 6th picture that I ran into a big problem. Due to the thickess of the H80 and the brace for mobo tray, the 8 pin CPU plug is inaccessible. Even removing the inner fan didn't help because of the H80's rad thickness. So what I did was install the mobo tray with everything on it, removed three screws from the rear to allow the H80 fan/rad assembly to pivot and allow me to get my fingers in enough to plug the connector in. So a big heads up there for anyone looking to get one of these cases. :thumb:

So here's the finished product. The first pic I posted here is the GT to show the difference. Organizing wires in the L10 was pretty simple. There's a ton of space between the mobo tray and side panel. More then I've ever seen in any case.

The case is a beast. I almost pooped myself carrying it back up stairs. Bringing it back to Slik's house was a lot of work! Maybe I should have just kept it here. :haha:

I never could either. I'm glad I got to check it out and work with it. Other then the few quirks I didn't like, it was really cool overall.

My thanks to my buddy Killswitch. This is one of the many things he has done for me. I took a look at what he plans to do with his Level 10GT,and it looks like another winner.
