Without resetting or updating, as already suggested :
Disable smart connect
Split the 2.4ghz and 5gz with their own ssid
Fix the channel of both. You can use the network survey under network tools of the router to scan your area.
I set my 2.4ghz to channel bandwidth 20mhz, as I have a lot of wifi around.
For my 5ghz, I disable 160mhz, using mode 20/40/80.
If that does not help, update to the last asuswrt-merlin for that model, 386.14_2
