Without resetting or updating, as already suggested :

Disable smart connect

Split the 2.4ghz and 5gz with their own ssid

Fix the channel of both. You can use the network survey under network tools of the router to scan your area.

I set my 2.4ghz to channel bandwidth 20mhz, as I have a lot of wifi around.

For my 5ghz, I disable 160mhz, using mode 20/40/80.

If that does not help, update to the last asuswrt-merlin for that model, 386.14_2

Well, decided to try an 'easymode' of resetting the router, but keeping the SSID, WPA and combined band. And it worked and everything seems to have automatically reconnected. Didn't have to restore devices or re-configure any of the home devices.

I don't usually mess with my router settings much, but did once when I set up Apollo/Artemis for streaming, so maybe I had errantly clicked something or had a port issue. Not sure , but it seems to be resolved
