Well, we'll see what they can do. I guess basically come May, if things are looking grim, I'll need to make an executive decision.

There might be options that aren't to painful, for example, the 3080 in white only had 2 units back ordered, don't really want white, as everything is black, but its the type of hard choice that might have to be made.

I found this interesting, the pricing for a good system, 10 years apart. In 2011, I built the following (with the advice from this forum I might add). It was not top of the line, but was pretty sweet back then, notice the kick-ass 4 GB of RAM, and the dual GPUs ;)

10 years ago this was "the shit"!

edit: looking at my old posts, I think this was actually 2008!!!

Ahh the vaunted P5Q Pro was a great series of Motherboards from Asus. I also loved their EVO's.

Lets remember though. This was 2491.88 in 2008 Dollars. According to various inflation calculators, its $3106.00 in today's dollars.

STill not quite the $5K you have down on your current build.

well, I wanted the storage, and the 4TB SSDs were between $700 - $900
I completely support these drives

I have one and I use a 10tb in another mission critical plex server for a large ski chalet. It's been rock solid and very fast access. I've run 6 simultaneous movies off the plex server with this drive with zero lag or stutter. Excellent storage drive.

But why Blacks? They're loud, power hungry and have no really purpose in a modern system. WD Reds are far more common for bulk storage these days.

This is your first and last warning.... please don't use that kind of language here.... ;)

I think boycotting WD mech drives (for a bit) over their latest fiasco is totally reasonable. There are better options for the same price.

Fair enough; especially, as I got caught by the switch to air, rather than helium, filled drives. Still not a reason to buy WD Blacks though.

But Sagath, like Cosmo Karmer and H&H Bagels, I am still boycotting Seagate for the number of their drives that died on my back in the day. lol
