heya all after my rig decided it was time to develop hardware Dementia i started scrapping sources for something to replace it with till the 8000's amd or 14th gen intel,

i managed to find a Gigabyte Aorus Extreme x570 for a really really good price only issue was a broken usb 3 connector.

i looked through what i had for parts and found a few B550/x570 boards that i could salvage a connector from. first attempt failed 1 pin broken while removing then i tried again but this time use lowmelt solder/antec flux and let gravity do the work.

I had the same problem a while back, with an older board, except I had a few pins that were bent. I straightened all but one, which broke off, so I too tried to remove a donor connector. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite difficult, but while attempting it, I found I could easily pull individual pins out (both the original & the donor board had straight connectors, rather than the right angled kind like yours), so I simply pulled out the mashed pin, and replaced it with a nice, straight pin from the donor..... turned out to be relatively easy. Yeah I just need to test board soon as it gets here it has a huge backplate I need to remove but it should be good once I get it. Can't wait to test the board.

Oh I been using em for awhile but that's only for project's that can wait 4-6 months on delivery or longer still waiting on items from 2022 at this point it's either being hand delivered from factory to my door or the boat it's on veered into Bermuda triangle.

She's finally done getting the usb port back into board was easy compared to trying to get the backplate Armour of the board back in lol 4 diff screw types and all different lengths and standoffs that need to be in certain places.

what does your repair station look like? what did you use to magnify the board's solder joints enough to do an effective repair?
