Well someone had to post this in order to give the west some kind of representation. As a kid watching CBC in black & white, I was a Habs fan, but when the Oilers of the early eighties showed up, it wasn't hard to switch loyalties.
I'm kind of excited to see if having a single owner with rather deep pockets will make any difference to their ability to attract top notch players. Not to say that the Oilers haven't had some great players in the last twenty years, but it seems that they always develop good young players into great players and then can't hang on to them. At least not at the same time.
Edmonton is a great hockey town, and players who play there seldom really want to leave. But, you can't hang around for less money. You're only young once and you've got to make hay while the sun shines.
So here's to a great hockey season! If there are any other Oiler fans out there, then let's see some support! Go Oilers Go!
