So what’s not clear from that article (I don’t think?) is what happens to existing Chromecast devices? Do they continue to work? Although my main TV has an Apple TV 4K now, I still have Chromecasts in a couple other rooms.

Oh, this is more of a rebrand than anything. I definitely had a 'wtf?' moment at the title.

Typical modern clickbait news.

They've gotta get those traffic metrics somehow! /s

But yes, whenever a company re-brands these 'news' sites love to use these type of titles to drive traffic.

Well gone are the cheap dongles I guess. I believe the new set top box is $99USD. Hasn't been listed up here yet though.

But I'm starting to wonder what Google's plan is though, as the Alexa/Fire TV hardware seems to get refreshed far more frequently and covers a wider range of use cases.

here's a bunch more information on the new Google TV Streamer. I just hope that HDMI 1.1 reference was a typo for 2.1...
