GPU Benchmarking Methods Investigated: The Comment Thread

^^^ Thats a tad blown out of proportion........as soon as the nVidia Fermi cards were released I personally found all the available Reviews fairly accurate as to performance of the latest n greatest GPU offerings, obviously HWC was the best ;)...for Performance it still stands

1. 480
2. 5870
3. 470
4. 5850

^^ Pretty straight forward really.......throw price:performance ratio into the mix and its up to the purchaser to make a decision based upon their own expectations and budget obviously.....

Actually, TechSpot did a review lately based purely on FRAPS measurements of one minute runs and found the 5850 to beat the 470 in most cases. Which shows how testing methodology can affect the results.

SKYMTL,

After this good work is done and putting the bars on the Tees, well, do you thing something could be done for SLI against Crossfire (scaling, plus the usual nVIDIA vs AMD/ATI)?

I mean, we cannot really extrapolate dual-cards performance by the look at the single cards benchies.

I guess the Crossfired 5770s, 5850s and 5870s against the GTX470s ans GTX480s SLIed?

I'm sure there is some "cleanup" or "sorting out" of the benchmarking methods of the dual-card configs.
It might not be exactly the same issues as benching single cards, but the methodology could be improved (for SLI/Crossfire results) to feed the good HWC forumers the best info!

Thanks! BTW I realize that it takes a awful lot of time to do what you and other fellow reviewers are doing for us.

Crysis was pointless for this comparison IMO. It is over with the Crysis commentary because it has been trumped by Metro 2033.

I can agree:punk: So we will be seeing some Metro 2033 in your coming benchmark reviews?

One of these days this will happen. No telling when though.

It's already in our benchmarking suite and has been featured in the last few reviews.
