Hey Everyone,
I am building a pc for my son and was wondering about which GPU to buy. Someone offered me a Sapphire Nitro RX 580 4gb for $140.00 and the 8gb version for $170.00. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

stay safe everyone!

depends what games you plan on playing current Triple AAA might struggle a bit but can you can always tweak the settings and or get a freesync compatible monitor and itll do most the work for you.

What’s your budget? 8gb is definitely a better bet, but you may be able to get a better deal than that.

All things being equal (decent CPU, 1080p monitor, optimized games, etc.) the 8 GB version should serve you well.
Might want to try to dicker him down $10.00 but IMO the price is fair.
Take care.

thanks for all the replies.
a friend of mine suggested to go with nvidia but which model would be comparable to the rx580? GTX 1050 or 1060? The 1060 is about the same price but 4gb. The 1050ti goes for about $120.00 4gb model.

There's a 1060 4GB card? I thought it's either 6GB, 5GB, or 3GB.

If he was offering a 1060 6GB for the same price, then I would consider the 1060 due to better drivers. I believe on release the 580 8GB was the same price as the 1060 6GB. If it's not the 6GB version, I wouldn't take it for the same price. I wouldn't consider the 1050TI for $120 if I can get the RX 580 4GB for $20 more. So in this case, take the 8GB RX580.
