Ironlore, the guys behind Titan Quest went out of business soon after the IT expansion. (due to some piracy and related problems:angry2:).
Some of the guys from IL have banded together to form Crate Entertainment, which is now currently producing a ARPG called Grim Dawn on the TQ engine.

Titan Quest was a great game, and could have been so much better with a few more expansions/balances in skills etc.

Here's their official website: Grim Dawn - Crate Entertainment

I would think the fact they released a pretty buggy game didn't help sales as well.

However this game looks interesting, kind of like a torchlight with multiplayer. Hopefully it will carry the same price tag. Though I do wonder how well it will do with Diablo 3 on the horizon. From my quick skimming of the site it looks like it is still in early dev.

Here's hoping it doesn't suffer the same buggy launch TQ did.

Actually, they went out of business following the poorly-received Soulstorm expansion for the original Dawn Of War game. That was some time after Immortal Throne was released.

to be honest I bought Titan Quest and did not like it, really buggy and gameplay was lacking for me. So I wouldnt be so quick to blame pirates, thats what the industry does when they think they make the next best thing to gods right thumb but in reality its a pile of smelly feces

I played it a few times during beta up to the level caps and found it to be fantastic. Will be playing the full game in due time.

Good to hear. I went ahead and ordered it (along with the DLC) and am currently installing. When the main complaints about a game are that it doesn't have a good multiplayer component and that it doesn't work well with a controller.... sounds like my kind of thing since my reviews of games I don't like include such things as bad single player component, and console games ported to PC with obvious bias towards using a controller vice KB/Mouse. :)

Initial feel is a hell of a lot more like DII than DIII ever was. Skill trees and what I suspect will be real synergies between player leveling choices. edit: That won't be nerfed to the ground when players find and implement them. :)

Character interface feels a bit clunky but that's probably just me being used to how well the DIII interface works (that's a function of DIII's non-complex player choices as well).

I've already bought it, but I suspect it's going to be enough of a keeper that I might even buy a copy to send out to my young lad who keeps pining for a DII release with better graphics.

The dual class/synergy system is built and improved from their previous game - Titan Quest.

Grim Dawn was planned from the start to be similarly paced and as gritty as Diablo 2. It is definitely a single player first game - Multiplayer is really the domain of Path of Exile (slow paced but plenty of ladders and gameplay variations) and Torchlight (Fast paced).
