if you have / did, did you have to add an IR sensor? did you have to do any tricks to get it to work?

the remote that came with the Amigo 7x my father-in-law had installed is hard on him. it's skinny, small buttons that roll into each other and no backlighting, so very difficult for him to use. there are very few Bluetooth remotes and most of them aren't backlit either and those that are are crazy expensive and physically no better than what he got.

I just had a quick look at the box you're talking about, and unfortunately it doesn't look like it's got USB at all. (Unlike the early android boxes that I've played with).

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong unit, the one I'm getting from a google search doesn't look like it's got USB, and also looks like it's proprietary as opposed to a standard android TV box so there's no guarantees it would work. (Although if he does indeed have USB slots and you order through amazon you can always return if it doesn't work).

edit:

Is that what he's got? If so, it doesn't look like it's a standard android box at all. It looks like some kind of proprietary IPTV box (there's references to protected content).

yeh..that's the impression I'm getting is that it's all proprietary. the tech's that did the install said no universals would work with it...but I can still hope / try.
