I bought one of these and would love one for my USB C port... or perhaps someone here has seen a USB C hub that also supports DP alt mode so I can continue to use my portable USB C display?

Are you limited to a single USB-C on a laptop that you need to use for charging, but also want to output to a mobile monitor? If so, then the Dell DA310 may be what you're looking for. Pretty sure it handles power pass through in addition to dp alt mode.

it's a gaming laptop, so dedicated barrel plug...but yes, only one USB-C port that I'd like to breakout to a few more USB-C ports.

possibly. I have thought about getting a USB-C dp alt mode splitter and then a USC-C hub. crazy how few USB-C only hubs there are. <.<

Most of the docking stations look like they output HDMI as opposed to usb c for video. Does your portable monitor support hdmi or does it have to be usb c for power?

it has mini-HDMI, but req. USB-C for power, so I would prefer a single cable to do both image / power.
