Haven't built a loop in ages. Mind eyeballing my parts list?

It's been ages since I've done a custom loop so I'm a bit rusty and want to make sure my parts list looks good. It doesn't look like I can do 2x 360 rads in the Y60, so I may go with a 240 cooling the cpu and 360 cooling the gpu.

Ordering from FormulaMod most likely (though I may check Ali expres) and I've shortlisted the following parts (pump and res combo might get swapped out);

Any tips, suggestions or obvious 'you missed X' would be appreciated. Not willing to shell out the price for EKWB stuff, but I'd consider alternatives. Thanks for the help everyone, I'm really rusty on this.

Will be taking notes as well since I just got jokster's old hardware. Need to figure out what I'm missing.

The wording on the res/pump combo is a bit suspicious... it looks like it includes the reservoir, but the wording makes it sound like it might have to be ordered separately.

Have you done a hard tube build before? Do you already have a bend kit?

Just another note about hard tubing. I don't know how much you need for the size of your planned loop, maybe you already have extra spec'd, but if not make sure you buy extra, especially if you haven't done it before, or you think you'll have complicated bends.

I made A LOT of mistakes learning to bend... and then I still made mistakes for hard angle or custom bends :D

The only part of the bend kits that are worth a damn are the cords to shove inside the tubing. The other stuff your better off just bending free hand most of the time. But with half dozen 90's assuming he is doing all strait pieces and using fittings for all the bends.

---

Looks like it is a DDC pump, I have had to many burn out they like to run hot and are noisier than most D5 based pumps which is what I tend to suggest for better longevity and lower noise profile.

If your going distilled you still should usually go with some kind of daz protect or equivalent to mix into it.

A GOOD blade to cut the tubing and a plan on how to clean up your cuts whether it be a reamer or whatever. You want exceptionally clean edges on all of your cuts. You don't want to nick the o-rings or anything like that during assembly.

I also suggest ordering some spare o-rings for the fittings. In the case of an oops it is nice have a couple spares.

Hmm. Might have to look and see if my AIO GPU waterblock fits a 3080ti...

I dunno. I appreciated and used some of the angle guides or whatever you call them in the kit I bought. Took a bit of the guesswork out when I was sure I wanted exactly that angle. You do have a lot more experience bending than me though.

Absolutely agree about the tools for cutting the tubing and for cleaning up the cuts. I bought a small pipe cutter that worked great, and the tool for cleaning up cut ends. Those made it way easier, accurate, and they weren't expensive.

Welp, ordered a Hyte Y60. I'm sure my O11 Mini is a better constructed case, and certainly less plastic, but really like the smaller footprint, ATX PSU and USB at the foot of the PC (since I keep it on my desk). Basically means water cooling is going to be a must for that case.

Make sure to grab one of these: https://www.formulamod.net/en-ca/pr...kes-simple-manual-rigid-tube-grinder-ygjdj-v1 to chamfer the cuts to the tubes.

I'd suggest the "anti-off" fittings - they have a larger rubber sleeve that goes over the tube instead of just o-rings. I find they hold a bit more securely. The "traditional" o-ring ones I found you can just pull out without much force at all.

Not certain if you care, but I have my doubts that the pumps Barrow/Bykski sell are original Laing/Xylem. Likely their own equivalent size-wise. May want to keep a spare, or source out an actual one. I would go with a D5 style too over DDC.

Don't buy PETG tubing. If you want to go hard tubing I would advise finding some acrylic. PETG has a habit of deformity over time or high temps.

Here's a quick guide on cutting acrylic in a simple easy way

I also would recommend buying a genuine D5 or ddc pump. The knock offs have a high failure rate unfortunately.
