Right, but then the cable still has to come up out of the stand cups and drape down over the side. What about a vertical cut or gap in the stand, in the middle even on one side, that would allow the cable to exit the stand parallel to the desk or surface it is sitting on? The headphones are supported by frustums and cable fall into the indentation. So in the worst-case, if the cable touches the bottom of the stand, the bending angle (between cable/stand interface) will be obtuse.
