I'm shocked at how unpatriotic this forum is for not already having a Helldivers 2 thread! Do you wanna live forever? I didn't think so! So come join the fight for liberty, democracy, and for Super Earth!

If you haven't already guessed, this game is both awesome and an incredible comparison to Starship Troopers.

Now which of you has the guts to fight for freedom vs the Terminid swarm? Or to help push back the cowardly Automatons invasion of Super Earth space?

Two very different foes, with different "Stratagems" to combat each. Devs (who are amazingly active and responsive) are actively trying to keep the game balanced and fun regardless of what you bring down to fight. There's even a "game master" that's controlling everything like a DM from DnD.

The enemy is numerous, enlist today! Service guarantees citizenship*!

*= or at least it does in Starship Troopers 🤷‍♂️.
Been playing it pretty much every night for two weeks now. There are NINE difficulty levels for those that really want to find a balance between cinematic explosive fun (that Micheal Bay would approve of) and near- suicide levels of craziness.

Supposedly Casper Van Dien tweeted recently a Starship Troopers meme towards Helldivers 2 that has been since deleted but it was the one where it's Rico and he 'wants to know more', so maybe he'll get some sort of voice over easter egg in the game, which would be fun.

@Arinoth it is indeed an epic score... but I play without music. Hearing is so important! You're very often able to hear enemy patrols or hidden enemies before you see them and even before your scanner sees them. The only way around this is to run armors that give a perk allowing you to mark anywhere on the minimap and seeing hostiles in that area.

You mean you don't get patriotically pumped up while the game is loading as well as navigating your drop pod as it hits the ground? That's usually all I have music for as in game it's down low but with nothing else going on when you're loading/launching it's a great way to channel Managed Democracy before boots on the ground. Also dunno if no music would help when typically my entire team is on Discord enjoying spreading Managed Democracy, though were currently only at difficulty 5 for now, believe we'll be pushing to 6 soon enough.

I really want them to add the thematic music when they were defending Planet P in the outpost for all the defend points in HD2.

And more of that when you are dropping in.

I was saying it last night with Scud and SugarJ:

"Remember your Training and you will come back Alive!!!!"

Would that be the training where you were killed by a resupply pod? :p I haven't played it nearly enough as my son hogs the computer on weekends. Last night I learned how to TK my drop partners with a laser Guard Dog. And a Gatling sentry.

More Specifically you learned how to TK me.

That guard dog was ZFG for what it was shooting at. Still was a Riot and we managed to pull off some craziness getting in and out on all our drops so overall I was quite happy.

Looking forward to next time.
