I need to get a WIFI adapter for project nephew budget build. I have used a couple cheap USB ones in the past that were fine for the purpose (maybe TP-link or netgear?), but I have definitely not been tracking that side of things in a few years. It doesn't matter if its USB or pcie for the build, so it will just be what is the best bang for buck out there.

It does not need to be the latest and greatest, just a stable, reliable, fast enough connection. Hoping for ~$25, but a touch more is fine if it will be worth it.

At a quick amazon skim I found these, but options are obviously not limited to just these:

EDIT: I remember someone sharing a pcie based option from aliexpress some time ago, but I think it had issues with the stock antennas. Anyone remember details from that to confirm?

The only thing I would say is it would be nice to take advantage of a PCI-E slot that likely isn't used for anything, rather than tie up a USB. Your nephew might not get there for a while, but I am always struggling for free USB ports especially with peripherals and wireless devices!

Something like this, but I know this out of the price range, just providing an example. But it is on a 44% off sale :)
TP-Link Wi-Fi 6E option - $44.99 CAD

It's not what you're looking for, but I had an Asus PCE-AC68 that served me well for quite a few years. Higher quality antennas, but was was particularly nice was that it had a cabled extension and antenna mount that could be a few feet away from the tower. Might not matter in the nephew build, but in the first apartment I had it in, moving it a few feet away got me significantly better performance. Could be worth keeping that in mind depending on where the nephew is setting up the PC and how strong their house's wifi signal is.
(Obviously with a newer, cheaper card than the AC68 which is probably a few standards behind now)

I've used several of those and didn't have any issues with them. Just be aware (unless they've changed the design since I last ordered them) that the bluetooth requires an open motherboard 2.0 USB header.

Thanks. That exact one? There are lots of sellers, do you mind sharing the exact one(s) you bought?

I would assume (though please correct me if I am wrong), that one of these AX210 based pcie adapters would be much faster than the USB ones I posted.

I think you can find similar questionable brands on Amazon too? Like this for example: https://www.amazon.ca/SYONCON-Bluetooth-Tri-Band-5374Mbps-Wireless/dp/B0BWWR2KK5

This was Intel AX210 in June when I bought it: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B4VH4G1C, but I see they have a "V2" hardware revision on their site which is MediaTek based now, so it would be a gamble as to what Amazon sends you.

Dual antenna designs will definitely be faster and more stable though than those single antenna USB ones. I think most ISP routers are WiFi 6E now too.

That's the most recent one I ordered. There are a million of them on there, it's just a matter of finding the best price / seller.
