I'm not sure ANY gpu in this market qualifies as a 'hot deal', but MemEx has an XFX 6950xt on for $849. Considering it's right up there with the 4070ti in most situations, I'm considering snagging one.

Would this be an appropriate upgrade for a 1080 Ti? and a 1440p monitor. I haven't been keeping update on gpus these days.

Yes, this would definitely serve as a reasonable upgrade. Depending on the title, you'll get roughly 1.5x to 2x the performance. You'll also gain the ability to use the newer technologies available. (ray tracing, super res, etc.) It's the same upgrade I'm targeting, although for 1440 ultrawide.

For anyone contemplating buying the RX 6950XT, according to XFX's website, the minimum PSU is 850W. Mine is only 750W. :(

According to PCPartPicker, a decent 750W PSU should run it. I'm not sure what PSU you have or what other peripherals, but you might get away with it.

I briefly ran a 4070ti on my RM750x (Gold) without any issues. TDP on the 6950x jumps 50W from that, but could be do-able.

EVGA SuperNova 750 P2. System has a 6700k, two Intel SSDs (900p and 750), a 4TB WD Red, mouse keyboard, joystick, etc. Still have a MX500 to install.

Thanks everyone, but I've opted to wait for a 4070 Ti/4070 to go on sale. An 4070 Ti wouldn't need a new PSU, has ray tracing and DLSS 3. But the RX 6950XT is so big I would have to remove the fans on my HDD rack for the card to even fit my case (ATCS 840).

You might want to think of upgrading that cpu. It's going to bottle neck a newer gpu. Just depends on resolution for how much it will.
