how many of you have 1Gbps or faster internet?

I don't get the huge expense either. Many motherboards come with 2.5Gb ports. Hell my new mini pc comes with a 2.5Gb port. I am most likely going to upgrade my ISP to the 3Gb plan (waiting until after holidays as just to busy to deal with it right now, and it will be cheaper than I am paying now) but before that I am moving the hard wired network to 2.5Gb. My desktop already has a 2.5, the new minipc Beelink Ser7 has 2.5 and the home server will as I am rebuilding it with a new mobo that has it.

All of those are or will be connected to my 8x2.5Gb switch and that will be nice. Yes no one else in the house will care as they are all on wifi, but it will make a difference serving media to my machine and the mini and just transferring files between the 3 makes the relatively small price for the switch worth it.

Right I forgot this is HWC where everyone has all the latest and greatest hardware and money is no object and not all of us run current hardware and everything just works!

I wish I was a money is no object person, but the fact remains that 2.5Gb is becoming much more prevalent and is included in many products. That new mb for my server was only $160. That new 8 2.5Gb port + 1 10Gb port switch is only $116. My desktop board is a few years old already and while that minipc is pricey, there are much cheaper ones that still have 2.5Gb ports.

Not saying that there aren't cheaper options, but the costs have been dropping and it certainly is not a money is no object thing.
