Looks like it's flipped. My picture that looked similar was also from the bottom, but the wiring diagram from the top. Just solder with everything 180deg and it should work.

found same forgot to correct it.
guess orginale poster was circumventing pripority rights trademarks of diagram.

i noticed after first go that data ground was not correct

As an engineering student with a desire to do something physical while school labs are closed on during COVID-19, I submit here my pinouts used on my USB-B modification. These are looking "down" onto the RJ50 connector with the USB in the same orientation.

Actually the RJ50 is not THAT stupid, some APC UPS systems featue TWO interfaces using the same connector, so you can use a RJ50 to USB cable or alternatively an RJ45 to D-sub 9p serial cable also fitting into this connector! This is why my Back UPS RS 550s RJ50 connector is labelled "USB or serial"
