Hello everyone. Currently I have a 50 GB SSD from 2011. It is in good shape it performs well until now. But it is so low on space. I only have around 1 GB of storage left which gives me headache every once in a while because it goes lower than that until I clean up the PC with CCleaner.

Is there a good way of migrating my OS and all the files on my SSD to new SSD?

Note: I have ubuntu installed on my HDD and I believe the boot file is not on the SSD itself. So I don't know if this changes anything about how to migrate the OS.

One last thing, which SSD do you recommend? I want to get something that is 240 - 480 GB.

Kingston makes some decent drives for the cost (I can almost always get a Kingston V drive for $99 / 240GB at my local CC).

They might not be top tier in terms of raw performance they get the job done for years and years.
PNY does have nice ones as well where you can find them.

1) it always helps to give full details about'one PC to get help.
2) I have used a few times "Macrium Reflect Free" to migrate OS to a new drive with succes:

Samsung 850 Evo's are great SSD's for good price. They also have software for easy migration but im not sure if it works on Ubuntu.

I use macrium religiously. Simple and to the point.

There are many programs can help achieve the goal. Just clone the OS to new SSD is enough. After migration, the previous will become a folder. You can delete it after you confirm the new cloned OS is well-worked.

clone ssd to a larger one

I recommend you use a free cloning software to clone SSD to a larger SSD without the need to reinstall OS or installed programs. when the clone is done, you can replace the old ssd with the cloned one.
