will dive into that next but for now wanting something that blows them outa this galaxy in terms on performance to see if its just a aging router or if the anemic SBC just cant keep up for whatever reason anything over 22.5gb stutters and screams source too slow so trying to eliminate that.

currently have a LattePanda 3 Delta on the way as well for testing after this rig is built.

I'm still using windows with a mediaportal 1.3 frontend for my media center machine.

I have it working well with over 100 TV series (over 8000 episodes) and around 900 movies or so. Works good and has been working on this machine without much for issues for like 10 years or so (I think, time is funny).

I can't play 4k without issues, but that is my hardware not the software. But I do routinely play stuff with high bitrate and it has no issue with different codecs or audio types. Passes through DD, DTS, DTS-MA, TrueHD, etc to my receiver without issue.

Once setup it is wify friendly and works perfectly fine with my logitech harmony remote.

I've been using Kodi on reg windows installs for years, fairly easy to use.

@ipaine how does media portal compare to Kodi? My biggest issue is I don't trust "scrapers" to send info about my files over the net just to get things like thumbnails and/or episode info. So in Kodi I just read the files as-are. If I could trust a scraper, either on the client PCs or my file server, I might try it out.

+1 For Kodi.

I use NVIDIA SHIELD (2nd Gen). Works like a champ, especially with AI upscaling.

iv had issues with this mainly streaming to the device wired no issues but wireless its nothing but issues and with the size of my lib of media it takes up about 65% shields built in 16gb emmc, i have a older Shield i modded with a 1tb ssd though.

I haven't looked at Kodi in years. I remember looking at it ages ago, but didn't go with it for some reason or another. And now with using MP for so long I just can't imagine moving from it.

As for the scrapers well you can pick and choose where the info comes from and all that. But having the thumbnails and episode info is nice to have.

Here are a few screens just so people can see how I have it layed out. There are other options for the layout and different skins too, but I always come back to this style.

Movies:

TV Series:

Then at the episode level:

This is a different layout for the TV called coverflow. Looks kind of neat but find my wide banners one is just easier to find what I am wanting.

Also I know you can run live tv through it if you have a capture card and all that stuff but I have never done it myself so can't speak to that aspect of the program.
