Case hasn't even shipped yet so this is mostly a placeholder and pics of the WC parts as they come in.

For now, this is going to be a case swap + a new loop as opposed to a hardware upgrade. I looked back through my records and was surprised that it's been 5+ years with the lian-li 011 air. I don't normally go that long between case swaps, although I have done quite a few other builds with new cases so I suppose that must have sated my desire for new digs over the last 5 years.

edit: Update on hardware.... 9 Nov, back-ordered 9800X3D bundle. Not sure how long it's going to take to get though.

edit2: Second update on hardware, 9800X3D bundle cancelled in favour of a 9950X + 870E motherboard.

Final Hardware config for this build:

- ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming Wifi
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
- Team Group T-Create Expert DDR5 6000 (CL30)
- Radeon RX 6800XT (transferred from previous build)
- ASUS TUF Gaming 7900 XTX OC
- Hyte Y70 Touch Infinity
- Super Flower Leadex III 850W ATX 3.1 PSU
- Thermalright Peerless Assassin (temporary cooling while waiting on loop components)
- Custom loop including D5, EK Res Mount, Corsair XC5 RGB, Corsair XR7 360 Rad

Corsair XR7 360 rad.jpg

I had been shopping over at Daz's store, but didn't want to chance the Canada Post strike for shipping thus ended up going through amazon to grab this Corsair XR7 360. Pretty beefy @ 54mm deep, and according to reviews is based on the Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis LX. I'm currently using 2X 240 rads (one deep, one shallow) to cool my 5900X so I'm fairly confident this deep 360 will provide similar cooling.

extenders.jpg

I'm sticking with flex tubing, but wanted to try to get fairly straight runs so I've grabbed several different sets of extenders (40mm, 25mm, & 10mm) hoping that will allow me to get the barbs on different components mostly on the same plane. The side rad panel for the Hyte is also apparently super deep so I may need them just to get the rad barbs even with the motherboard ones.

Lastly, working on a 3D printed mount for the pump. Found one designed for a DDC that I'm modifying for the EK X-Res I've got on hand. Currently working on V2 of that (V1 was too short for the pump mounts.... ;) ).

That's it for now.... I've got Thermalright reverse blade fans as well as a few fittings and elbows still inbound, and we'll see how long CC takes to ship the Case + PSU I ordered a few days ago.

I'll be curious how it comes together. This does remind me to take some actual 'final' photos of my Y60 build now that it's back together and has clear coolant in it.

Seems to me I was looking through that earlier today and wondering if there might be some final pics missing.....

edit: Nope.... don't think it was your build I was thinking of.... that's got tons of good pics. ;)

Rad reviews are kinda weird and a little misleading at times. General rule though surface area wins.

A thin 360 vs thick 360 is usually a very small difference because the fin density almost also changes.

So even if you were going from 2 thin 240s (let alone 1 think and 1 thin) to a thick 360 your usually loosing total cooling capacity.

I should still be good. 480mm total surface area was always major overkill for a loop without a GPU. :)

Fan Box Back spec insert.jpg

Reverse flow fans arrived. These are obviously not set up for sale in Canada as there's no French labeling. Great to see full specs listed on the rear, but maybe the importer could avoid covering them up with stickers? Fortunately there's an insert with all of the same info.

Rad Pump mount roughed in.jpg

Fans installed, and pump mount roughed in. My intention is to print off some spacers to cover those machine screws once I get all of my fittings in and can confirm the required height.
