Opened a ticket with CC inquiring about when I could expect to receive the product they took money for on the 1'st. CS got back to me today stating that "it's already on the picking list" which means it should be shipping either today or within 24 hours.

Not completely sure I believe that......

edit: No tracking number yet, but their website claims shipped as of 9:30 AM on the 20'th.

The reviews I've been reading have almost all been highlighting the fact that Corsair isn't trying to manufacture their own kit, but is instead rebranding established products with slight changes.
Their first wave of stuff was very much from their purchase of CoolIt, and they axed all the cool stuff CoolIt had on the workbench such as some really cool peltier based stuff that actually made sense. (I had been able to view some up and coming products that all got axed on the take over)

I was trying to get a hold of one of their pelitier systems and a liquid to liquid heat transfer block from Kooalance so I could run the CoolIt system as a booster loop to cool the primary loop only as desired, not having to run it full time. The take over literally blocked my attempted purchase.

Proof of concept (mostly testing the use of extensions) + leaktest of existing barbs.

Seems to be working as expected, I had one suspect 90deg barb which I'd set aside on a previous build, and yep... leaking so it's been replaced. Everything else seems fine, I had to throw an extra/deeper o-ring on the return elbow (clear tubing side/top) as the port is recessed, and the barb wasn't sealing (seems fine now).

Just got my memory in, and I'm hoping that the mainboard + cpu will arrive next week (I ditched my 9800X3D backorder for a supposedly in-stock 9950x).

edit: Also just got a confirmation email Sunday morning from UPS that my wayward Case + PSU bundle will be delivered Monday (in spite of never receiving a shipping + tracking email from CC).

Case plus PSU wrapped.JPG

Case + PSU is in da house!!!!! (it only took 24 days :( ).

The box is huge, I can only imagine the case dimensions are even larger than my PC-011 was.

Super Flower has been producing quality PSUs for years that have been rebranded by more mainstream manufacturers, why not try one of their own branded models? (Besides which, it came with the case bundle so case retail + $40 to throw in an 850W PSU).

Still waiting on MB + CPU so main concern until they arrive was whether the loop would fit as I've envisioned..... seem fine although I suspect the current fittings are going to be a bit low if I want to do a straight run from the pump to the cpu block. We'll see once I've got the motherboard installed. I was a bit concerned about the front compression fittings hitting the front glass panel, but there's at least 1 mm gap so we're good.

Getting the motherboard + cpu has been "interesting" to say the least.... first it was a 9800X3D backorder which I cancelled after both concerns about it being filled, and nagging doubts on my part as to whether or not I wanted to sacrifice productivity to a smaller core count optimized for gaming.

Next order was a MB/CPU bundle from Mem Express on Saturday (9950x + Strix 870E-E) which was listed as "on hold" as soon as they took my money, which led me to believe that they were OOS on the motherboard so I ended up cancelling that order in favour of a CPU from Mem Ex, and the Strix from Amazon. (Both have been shipped and should be in my hands by the weekend).

Long story short..... my CC has several rather significant pending refunds not reflected on the balance that I have to explain to my better half before she sees the next statement. ;)

Installing 3 bottom fans is most definitely not intuitive, and the printed instructions weren't much help. I had to resort to youtube for an example.

Motherboard with cpu and mem.JPG

Finally got the main PC components in. Asus Strix X870E-E Gaming Wifi paired with a Ryzen 9 9950X and a 32GB set of CL30 T-Create DDR5 sticks.

Holy crap is this motherboard ever freaking heavy!!!!! I couldn't find weight under tech specs, but the generative AI search feature spits out 5.28 lbs and I have no reason to doubt that. I thought my Lian-Li was stupidly heavy, I have a strong suspicion this build's heft will put that to shame.

It's a work night (last one) so I'm not going to push any further than this until the weekend, but I'm itching to get this into the case to install windows. I've still got a couple of fittings coming in early next week for the loop, but I grabbed a peerless assassin to stand in while I wait for the loop to be complete.

Looks better than the "press" photos, it can go on my list :)

Any backplate on it, or its just heavy from all the front heatsinks?

There's a metal CPU backplate, but the great majority of the weight is from the heatsinks. Aside from the chipset/VRM heatsinks, the two primary NVMe heatsinks are really beefy as well.

edit: As far as what the board looks like.... the pixelated graphics turn a lot of folks off. It doesn't bother me, but I can see that being a valid complaint.

It's probably a limitation of the chipset, but I find the secondary gen 5 NVMe configuration a bit odd. The #1 slot (behind and slightly above the main PCIe slot) is fine, but using the secondary slots (two above the pcie slot) drops the main PCIe slot down to X8.

Motherboard on box install.JPG

Windows install out of box with a peerless assassin. Memory "learning" took a lot longer than I thought it should when I selected expo in bios.

Similar first install manufacturer's experience as I had with the B550 Tomahawk in that it presented me with a driver package for the motherboard first thing. Not sure if that's a new driver thing or if it's part of the 24H2 build features. On the down side, the ASUS one appears to be browser based, and it has an "install all" option which would include crapware (like norton) but there doesn't appear to be an option to de-select individual options so I'm stuck doing each driver install separately.

The PSU has a very strong "new" smell that I'm praying burns off fairly quickly.

edit: also nice to be returning to onboard video capabilities even if they're rudimentary.

edit2: Happy to report that the "new car smell" was a relatively short lived thing. Seemed to linger for a week or two, but 2 months in it's no longer noticeable.
