My sound blaster X4 arrived safe and sound and is working as expected. Feels like a quality piece of kit and it's got a ton of bells and whistles that I'll never use, but most importantly it's got standard 7.1 audio jacks so that I'm not cluttering up the front of my case with the rear speaker plug.

Unfortunately, needing (wanting) to grab one of these to overcome the 2 jack rear panel on this motherboard effectively turned an already expensive $630 motherboard purchase into an $800 (pre-tax) one. Really can't say I'm a fan of the current onboard audio trend, and really think that at these kinds of prices they should have at least provided a (low and high profile) breakout rear slot cover to make up for the lack of rear ports.

I haven't used a soundcard in a while, just my GPU. But I do not sit at a desk, and my PC is 9 feet from me.

Sweet setup man!

Yeah, I get why they've dropped down to two audio ports. Surround speaker setups for PCs are not mainstream these days. I discovered that when my logitech 5.1 set finally bit the dust a year ago, and I found that buying a full set was not really an option (I ended up with a couple of sets of edifiers).

Understanding it doesn't mean I have to like it though. :)

Can't leave anything well enough alone.... :)

Tube Brace Installed Loop V1.JPG

I mentioned I wasn't happy with the way the two cable clamps worked so I created a jig for the lower tubing that mounts to the bottom of the res platform. Adjustable fore/aft and left/right so it should still work when/if I do V2 of the loop with that lower tubing moved 10 - 20mm closer to the motherboard in order to provide clearance for longer graphics cards.

Loop V2 completed and leak tested in preparation for a longer video card.

edit: Spoke too soon..... looking at the dimensions of the new card (it's an absolute beast in size... :) ) and it's going to require a carve-out on the jig I designed.

I wasn't sure about the colour of that jig when you first posted it, but you won me over. Build looks great! That new GPU is going to look super in there!

I just hope the bloody thing fits now that I've cut out the forward part of it. The card is stupidly big, and might not fit under the bottom of the pump.

Sweet Moses... Well, you could switch to non-vertical mount for it?

And sorry about the extra posts noise -- I should have read all the new posts before commenting but you deeked me out with the "Rants..." and "What's your latest purchase" posts!

No problem with the "noise". :)

I'm going to be sticking with the vertical mount. I've got a different pump mount I could use if I have to which will raise the pump a little higher. The loop would remain essentially the same, but I'd have to drain it and lengthen the front/side tube as well as a minor adjustment to the pump outlet -> cpu block run.
