THe original fan on my Atom died a couple of weeks ago, lucklily I had another 40mm fan from an old P4 board kicking around. Now it seems that fan is going to, so I'm looking for a more permanent solution (aka one that I'll spend money on). I was thinking of the TR HR-05/IFX

Ultimate CPU Cooling Solutions! USA

I'm thinking maybe I can use this passively or slap a really quiet 80mm fan on it:rofl: Any other ideas? I've been buying motherboards with adequate stock cooling lately and haven't had to replace a chipset cooler in a while. It would be a bonus if it was a stock NCIX item as a friend will be ordering from there shortly and I can piggyback and save on shipping.

The board is the Intel 945GCLF and uses the wire hook method.

EDIT: I so can't type with that keyboard connected to my Atom

I'm thinking of doing something like this:

ram_cooler.jpg

I rigged this up from peice of plexiglass to cool the ram back when I was running an A64.

I did that too ( 1 big fan ) on the one that's not running right now in my living room. I have found it works much better for cooling the whole thing and well the better the fan the quieter it is and cheaper

Well I made up a bracket and everything for a 92mm fan, but since I needed ram for it anyway and a Scythe 40mm fan was only 4 bucks, I bolted one of those onto the stock heatsink, we'll see how that goes.

So much for the $4 fan  Screw it, I'm moving this system into my Shark case, a 120mm in the side vent will work nicely.
