I was kind of thinking that as well but with all the PC's I have built most people just go with 4 to 8 cores and mainly 4 to 6 if they aren't gaming and I just wasn't sure.

I was thinking that when my friend said here you can have this 6950X for nothing that would be great for because that CPU can run Windows 11 with a new TPM installed.

I don't know for sure if I will run 11 on but most likely Win 10 for sure, depending on how fast it is I may use the 6950X as my main rig for video encoding if it is faster then my i9 9900K .

Either way it will still be a good strong encoding PC,I may also look into getting this graphic's card to see if it helps speed up encoding because I do ton of it for sure, the guy in the video say's it good for .264 and .265 which I do a lot of and the price is pretty dam cheap to.

depending on the app most if not all (99.99%) use Cuda instead of openCL, im thinking along same lines turning a delidded, direct die 7980xe into my encoding rig. since i do alot of AI Upscaling with Topaz, intel is DOA as they'd lied about having realtime encoding for this. so ill look into Older Quadro's K5000 i think had 24gb GDDR5 or A series if they come in at a good enough price.

I'm planning on getting one once I land a job for QuickSync jobs in HandBrake and Plex. Currently sold out and I seen it go as high as $110 USD.

@Shadowarez are you sure you are referring to K5000? It's showing a 4GB VRAM. P5000 has 16GB and P6000 has 24 and both are still pretty expensive IMO.

Do you find with the Intel Arc stuff it's faster encoding video with Handbrake or have you not used an Intel card yet.

havent used intel yet was going to grab a A770 but once i found out intels claims of real time acceleration in Topaz was a lie i kinda lost faith in em but thats just me lol im sure they have the guts for handbrake. ill get my hands on a old Quadro see how it stacks up in test bench as some software i use can use multiple gpus without sli.

I think that cooler should be fine for your uses. It is a solid air cooler.

Worst case scenario is you can use it initially and if you end up deciding you want better in the future you can when a sale pops up. Personally I wouldn’t put any more $ in that platform, as that cooler should be perfectly fine.

As for it vs your 9900K…the 9900K may be down cores, but it should still be faster. I would suspect 9900K as fast or slightly faster in multi core, and 9900K notably faster in single or lightly threaded tasks.
