inches or pixels

Im considering getting a new display unit Ive got a ps3 and a gaming pc and I was debating whether to get a nice 42 high def tv(only 1366x768) or to get a 24 inch 1920x1200 monitor anyone have any experience between the two?, any reccommendations?

More pixels = Better picture.
More pixels > More Inches.

Plus on the HDTV since it's a real weird resolution, it could be distorted when you're using the PC on it. Not sure though.

It's fine playing on an HDTV, but the 24" definitely has a much higher effective resolution ...

42" 1366x768 = 37.316 DPI (Each pixel is 0.681 mm x 0.681 mm)
24" 1920x1200 = 94.34 DPI (Each pixel is 0.269 mm x 0.269 mm)

well 24 inches is only 24 inches and somegames still look pretty good in 1366x768(also 720p) but 1920x1200(also 1080p) is the future of gaming, and ive played some games that still look good in the "high def" and on the plus it is 42 inches .. whereas the 24inches is going to look beautiful but its only gonne be 24 inches.. argh this is a horrible fence to be stuck on

I chose a 24 inch Dell monitor and it is better for me personally. Also you got to remember for computer use it will have more space on the 24" monitor than the 42" because 720p will be smaller on any screen size then compared to 1080p on any screen size. You can also say that there won't be THAT much of a difference from 720p to 1080p in clarity. It is a tough fence. Also what is the contrast ratio and response time? What about dot pitch. Those are some pretty important stuff. What about HDMI and other compatibilities.

Personally I would go with the 24" monitor but It is up to you and how far away you sit. I will tell you that the 360 is amazing on my 24" 1920 x 1200 monitor ans so will the PS3.

also the hdmi is a factor, the prices are quite similar so it just makes it a tougher decision

They are all good but the best picture quality would be the monitor by benq. Well it is a very tough choice.

ya i think im gonna opt for the higher resolution my pc will love it and if i buy open box i can cut another 120 bucks off it, and the manufacturers warrenty covers 3 years parts and labor and one year replacement of monitor

that monitor is exactly the same as dells 24" monitor. I think you won't be disappointed.

anyone got any information on 1080p 22 inch lcds ive been doing a bit of looking around and there seems to be 1680x1050 monitors and 1080p capable which seems wierd
