Intel 14th gen review

GN 14600k review. Apparently some commenters called them out on the sarcasm I mentioned from their 14900k review, so the first few minutes are feeding off that.

Summary - it’s a 13600k with the turbo multiplier moved up a notch out of the box…so just buy whichever is cheaper if you happen to be on the fence between the two.

I love the sarcasm on this 14th "gen" release. It is well deserved.

The chips cost more than the 13th gen currently, offer very little in uplift and use more power to do so.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are bad chips, but they are bad in the sense that they are not a generation and are not worth $50 more than the 13th gen. You would be much better off putting that $50 into other parts of your build. And if all you care about is gaming then well the 7800X3D still wins most of the time and is cheaper and uses way way less power.

And GN is certainly not the only reviewer out there that is annoyed at the pointlessness of this 14th "gen" release.

i understand that people on this site overwhelmingly love AMD for value and performance, but this video here pretty much sums up why I haven’t made the switch.

He does complain about temps on his 14900k but it is overclocked so idk.

Experiences can definitely sway preferences. As for the video, I can’t help but think he had bad ram. I have never had the really long memory training other than after I do timing changes, and mine has been rock solid at 6000 with custom timings since I got it. That said, he had a different experience.

I do think that amd currently has better options for MOST people right now though, and the bad press for Intel lately is just due to the fact that they relabeled minor clock boosts as a new generation (something I would really dislike no matter who does it). I have jumped back and forth between the 2 several times…my desktop CPUs have been AMD, AMD, Intel, Intel, amd, and my laptop was amd then Intel. Suffice to say I don't really care what company makes my CPU...I just buy whatever I perceive as the best for the $ for my uses when I build (and I haven't had a problem with either).

For most serious gamers I just don’t see a reason not to pick the 7800X3D. That said, I will say that if someone does a lot of cpu heavy tasks and gaming, either brand is perfectly fine and comes down to your preferences…for me I would still go amd for the platform life and lower power draw, but if that isn’t something you care about then intel is a fine option.

I am considering doing a 12100 build for my parents, as am5 doesn’t have a budget option…its 12100 or 5600g (amd is the better cpu/igpu, but the platform features are worse).

Lol I don't watch that dip shit for anything. He's pure entertainment. The amount of times he's messed up and blamed the manufacturer, then realized it was his mistake is far too many to take him seriously.

Is the RAM issue on AMD platform repeatable with different board + same RAM and same board + different RAM? I'm wondering how wide spread that problem is. I went back to re-watch the i7-11700K review on GN and it's the exact same thing. More power pumped into it for a tad faster result.

I have heard about this RAM problem with AMD Ryzen since its launch and I have never once had any real problems that didn't end up being failing RAM, mind you I dont have any 7000 series in my fleet yet. saying all this I have 9 Ryzen PCs in my ranging from first-gen to 5000 series running varying RAM speeds and brands

I am an AMD fan yes based on price/performance/thermals/P-P-WATT, but the way I see it use what you like/want/works for you and your needs.

GN has seemed to focus on the drama in the tech community and bickering with those who disagree with him, Steve and his crew behaving like the white knights of the tech industry well that's when Steve lost me instead of just focusing on the facts about tech, Jay is very melodramatic sometimes, has made mistakes and won't own them and just has a follow the leader kind of feel to his videos I haven't really seen him do any original content in the last few years, he just seems to follow what others have done better IMHO.
