Intel posted record profits last quarter.
Lets hope that they now use these profits to offer full replacements, and also labour costs to small stores to do this.
Some companies have massive resources to deal with issues like this, but folks like 3.0 Charlie, kruzn4evr, and other small retailers will now have to spend time and effort replacing boards for clients.
Good for Intel coming out and taking responsibility, but still a major PITA. Lets hope the little guy does not get screwed here.

Yeah thats the problem in the computer business for this type of stuff. The margins are so small that Intel needs to step up here, as they are at fault and they can also afford the hit better than most.
Ya, unfortunately, every Sandy Bridge motherboard will likely be a loss, especially if they cover shipping. The extra manpower required to not only deal with, but plus the cost of back and forth between suppliers, customers etc.
Heck, NCIX is offering complimentary motherboard replacement if you purchased a system. A mobo replacement basically takes 2/3 of the time to build a new PC, plus they are covering shipping back. Ouch

Intel has to be paying for the shipping costs that mb manus will incur plus the time to fix the boards and the new chipsets. Isnt that what the 600 million is for?
