Techspot / HUB picked up a leak regarding Intel's upcoming 900 series motherboard. Too lazy to retype everything so here's the screenshot of the leak Techspot referenced. Weird that Q970 could get PCI-E 5.0 bifuication but not Z970. Also Z970 only get 1x PCI-E 5.0 storage 4x lanes seem kind of cheap, this is suppose to be a Z board. So the only difference between the B960 and Z970 is OC support.

There seems to be almost no reason for the Z970 or Q970 chipsets.

The Q970 chipset has less features than the Z990 but has Intel vPro for systems management, but doesn't have ECC, so it appears to be a pseudo-workstation chipset that lacks the important benefits of ECC.

The Z970 chipset only has OC but no chipset PCI-E 5.0 lanes....

This segmentation just makes for a confusing product stack for simpletons like me.

The Q series has always been office while the W is workstation. When I was looking for a used board for a 6/7the gen CPU, the Q270 would even have PCI for older devices.

Intel always have this useless segmentation which AMD kind of followed for their 600 series with the X and then X---E models. Which then made worst in the 700 series.

The q970 needs to die off based on these specs. In this era still making board that don't support basic memory oc just to be able to use XMP profiles above a certain speed is ridiculous.
