It seems that this RAM is quickly becoming a favorite among enthusiasts. Somewhat underwhelmed by the ocability of my most recent memory purchase (although I didn't break the bank), I have beeen keeping an eye out for the best OC ram value for an upgrade. Considering this review and the numbers that are aout there, I might be leaning towards G. Skill a little harder.

I haven't had the best luck with any DDR2 Ballistix personally. I've found that they all require more voltage than other sticks on the market, but perform equally to what else is out there.

It depends on your budget really. Corsairs DOMINATOR PC2-6400 may suit you better, or OCZs Plat 6400 kit. Depends all on the budget... anything with good chips will treat you well.

Yeah I probably should have bought the platinum instead of the gold as they're the same price, but a month and a half ago, I though that for timings, the bigger the number the better- HA! I wonder if ocz gold uses d9 chips?

No, I am quite sure that they use Elpidas. The rare Gold PC2-8800 kit originally used Elpida as well, but had to be switched over to D9 in order for stability. D9 is usually reserved for the actual performance kits. Golds are not designed for overclocking ;-)

Just for the record, though - -right now I am running my ocz gold at 4-4-4-12, 850Mhz and 2.1V which (I think) really isn't too bad for 260 dollar ram-- It will go 900 at stock timings.

And superG- It's amazing I can figure out how to breathe, heh?

I agree, 850MHz is not bad for a Gold kit at all. Some won't even go 2MHz over stock. Their value SOE kits are worse for overclocking in general.

Haha, I'm not sure about having the fastest rig. There must be what... like 200,000 people in New Brunswick? I'm sure there must be some performance lovin peeps out there among us. What city are you from? SJ here.

How in the world did you come to that Techgage conclusion, by the way?

Stalker! no, you posted your aim name

I'm actually from SJ, but I've lived in about 20 places and am currently settled in Upper Gagetown, or as I like to call it "that hell of 26 Kbps dial-up"
