Is Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 compatible with MSI H170 Gaming M3

Hi Guys,

I just want confirmation this board: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/H170-GAMING-M3/Specification will support and fully utilize this SSD: https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p1/ct1000p1ssd8

I can see in the specification of the board that it says: "1 x 2280 Key M(PCIe Gen3 x4/SATA)". I remember reading an article a while back saying that H170 chipset doesn't fully support this type of SSDs and may have issues with dual booting setups on so on.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Board says it supports 'PCIe Gen3 x4' which would be NVMe and that is what the Crucial SSD is.

Bios 7978vCA improves NVME compatibility. I would flash that one first. The next two bioses contain Micro code for security vulnerabilities which will downgrade the performance of your nvme drive so i don't recommend installing them. Here
