Is the Display port 1.4 good enough or should i upgrade to 2.1?

DP1.4 is capable of 1440p up to about 240Hz so there isn't really a gain between 1.4 and 2.1 for you in this case with that monitor.

DP is a superior standard...it's HDMI that has needed to catch up, which it has...you want HDMI 2.0 or better only.

The most common version of HDMI, HDMI 2.0, supports up to 18.00 Gbit/s, almost half of the transfer rate of DisplayPort 1.4. So HDMI 2.0 cables can't support nowhere near as many resolutions and refresh rates than DisplayPort 1.4 cables.

Wait, HDMI 2.1 supports a maximum bandwidth of 48 Gbps, while DisplayPort 1.4 supports a maximum bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps ?

HDMI 2.1 > DP1.4
DP 2.1 > HDMI 2.1

But for 1440p @ 240Hz DP 1.4 should suffice, that's what I use.
