I've been using a DeCK 82 for over ten years. It's a 75% -sized mechanical that predates a lot of standards, which is one of the reasons why it doesn't feel any better even with TWO thick rubber O rings as spacers on each key.

So, I'm finally in the market for a new one. Doesn't *have* to be a mechanical per se, but I am looking for the lightest feeling, least travel and easiest to use.

RGB not required, but some sort of backlight is. Should I try those optical switches?

Currently considering the Razer 75% v4 keyboard, but for 250 bucks, I want to be sure before I get it (or something else).

Hit me with your suggestions HWC 👍🤘

Light, and short travel sounds to me like a Logitech K800......

edit: Sorry, it's a full sized, not 75%.

Have you looked at any TKLs? That's essentially normal layout but without the numkeys. There are a lot of 75% out there, and I personally wouldn't have an issue getting one, but a lot of folks prefer to stick with TKL for the standard layout.

Everest with the soft keys is a great option. I got the full kit with the removable num pad. Zero issues and tons of gaming.

I'll look into it, but I see on their site they say what everyone says: "ours is the best keyboard in the world". Time to read reviews.

I suggest Keychron to everyone. They have various models and all well built imo

Gotta be blunt, I never like keyboards with that "style". Why do you want your KB to look like it came from a steel mill in the 70s? 🤷‍♂️😅

Each their own, they are built like a tank and I've enjoyed their esthetics vs gamer bro that razer and the likes go for.

I have a BlackWidow v3 with Yellow switches. Had Cherry MX Reds before and this is/was quieter. Going on year 4 now, no complaints. Nothings worn off, all the keys still light up. A bunch of games support Chroma so you get some cool effects. It's a solid black keyboard, so nothing too outlandish. Razer gets a lot of hate though 🤷‍♂️

@Jokester Yours isn't that bad tbh.

What is "gamer bro" though? Like, whats wrong with a solid keyboard that "just" is all -black with RGB?
The whole keyboard being rgb backlit like relax guys it's enough having the keys backlit. I have no use for Razor though. Other people have better experiences.

Should I maybe order one of those Kits from Amazon that has several different switch types to help me pick one? I don't think I've seen one with electro- optical switches though.

Oh, since I forgot to mention it: the KB has to be TKL (ten key less) at a minimum, but I don't want to lose my F -keys, so that's why I'm aiming for like a 60-80% size KB. My muscle pain disease causes my KB and Mouse hands to want to close distance all the time. So with a full sized KB my mouse+ right hand would bash into the numpad. So ya, no numpad for me
