After a while of watching American people enjoy this, I finally found out this morning that iTunes match is available in Canada now. Right in the middle of matching my music collection and uploading the album artwork to the cloud (Fortunately all my crappy quality rips are basically now upgraded).

Gonna putter around a bit more but so far everything seems way better than the south of the border friends had when it first went live. 2000 songs were matched out for around 2300 that I have on my laptop, pretty good though for some strange reason a few albums which are available on iTunes were not matched :blare: Oh well, growing pains like any new service.

Only $25/year. I think I may have to try this out.

I already did subscribe. Still has some growing pains. It initially matched around 50% of my music, but as it was uploading some tracks, it ended up matching far more. Which is no big deal for me anyway cause I just got home on leave and we have the new shaw broadband package...

Do you think it is worth the money? I wonder how well it will do w/ electronica which has 11ty different remixes of each song.

Does it scan the actual music, or just parse the MP3 info? Any chance it would pick up my old LP rips (major scratches and all....... ;) )?

Actually as an experiment , I ended up converting my whole music collection to AAC through iTunes, and it matched ALL of it....odd but hey I won't complain cause my crappy rips basically all got upgraded to higher bit rate music. As far as I can tell it just parses the MP3 info and I do very much consider it worth the money, but then again my hard drive space is rather limited while I'm on the road so the cloud storage is a godsend for me (I'm too cheap to toss a larger SSD into my MacBook Air).
