I decided to pull the trigger and get a MikroTik L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN Router because I'm sick of ASUS routers and all the brands burning up after 2 or 3 years and then it's another 120 to 140 bucks down the drain,I was told by a few people on this forum Mikrotik routers are built last 10 years plus, anything I do on PC's I prefer hardwired myself and so as it can pull 15 to 25mb's threw it even 15 years I really won't care.

I got this router because it was 147 bucks Canadian and it seemed like a good model,I don't need anything extra special other then just to have Wifi and a password on it so my Mom can use her Tablet and Laptop on the Net because my tower is hardwired.

I'm pretty impressed with the base of the router it's about 4.5 to 5mm thick aluminum and when I say the base I mean the whole bottom part of the router is aluminum and it seems to stay pretty cool from what I'm seeing and feeling so so and on the Mikrotik site when you login into you can see the routers temps if you go to right section and mine was reading 44C.

I was told by the members that suggested Mikrotik routers that they are harder to set up and I would have to say I found it extremely easy and straight forward to set if you just want a basic Wifi Net with nothing extra special going on.

If I find anything else good or bad about this router the more I use it I will update this thread.

Neat design. Other than the threads on here, I know nothing about Mikrotik. That one isn't expensive. Look forward to your assessment after using it for a while.

I watched the video on the amazon link, is the WiFi 2.4 GHz only?

I think this one I got is just 2.4ghz but for my needs when it comes to using Wifi I very rarely use a tablet or a laptop other then to just surf the Net as I have always preferred the power of a tower.

The only time in along time that Wifi at home came in handy for me was when I built my ASUS X870E ProArt build and I had never built a pc that had 2 cpu power sockets on the mobo.

What happened to me was I re-used my Enthoo tower and my i9 9900K build was already taken apart because it was in my Enthoo case and when I went to fire up my X870E build it wouldn't fire up for nothing no matter what I tried, after I checked the cables and I couldn't even get 1 led to light on the mobo and ASUS only gave a Quick Start Guide and of coarse it didn't say anything either that only 2 cables are needed when really high power draws cpu's are installed which I think I learnt from watching Wendell's review from Level 1 Techs, that was my problem for whatever the reason when the mobo seen my cpu and that it didn't need the extra power and I'm guessing it didn't turn on to protect the system from being supplied to much power and burning some up.

The best part is even when I sneak into my Mom's bedroom who was sleeping to borrow her laptop I couldn't find the full manual online because ASUS took a month to put the full manual on their site and I don't they even mention it in the current full manual that only both cpu power cables need to be plugged in with certain high power consumption cpu's,I also tried watching video's and watched video's and learnt nothing as well so even in that case having Wifi and a laptop did jack shit for me lol.

When I seen the other thing's that MikroTik makes like switch's for server racks and other stuff like that I already made my mind up from what I had been told by other members and research I did plus seeing the other stuff they make gave me a lot of confidence that they make good stuff all around.

I know you can't say either that if they make switch's for server towers that cost a pretty penny and you know if they want to stay in business they are going to be great stuff and so therefor everything else they make must be great,I just figured with them not being a massive company like ASUS or D-Link and so on that if they make switch's for server racks and if they are really good and durable hopefully they carry that same mindset into all their other products they sell.

Didnt know anyone still made mono band routers but listing Wifi b/g/n/ax is a little weird but skipping ac does back up being 2.4 only.

Weird device in general with 2.4 only, sfp but not sfp+, PoE-af (older standard thats PoE without any +'s)

Makes me wonder who the real target is of this one, or if just a mix of old parts tossed into a shell.

Little odd to have only 2.4ghz only, but for that price, it's still a decent for just the all-in-one firewall/router/switch portion. Would be my choice if I wasn't already running cheap optiplex boxes with OPNSense.

Unlike Ubiquiti's bullshit, both can add as many devices as you want, which includes APs.
Tellin' ya, as soon as companies go public, they turn to shit. Fuckin' shareholders man.
