Kentsfield overclocking on nVidia reference 680i motherboard

I haven't yet tried flashing to the latest BIOS, but Kentsfield FSB overclocking on this board appears to be absolutely horrible, I had an ES Bad Axe 2 in my system before, and besides the spacing of the PCIe slots, and the non-functionality of my sound card (oh yeah and no SLI support...) it was a MUCH better overclocking board.

I can't even get much over 300FSB on this board with a Kentsfield, and from what I've seen around the net, that's about par for the course... I'm very disappointed.

FSB overclocking on this board is top notch.
I dont know what you are talking about, you obviously do have Ram and chipset limitations.
This board is awesome.
Get Mushkin XP2 8000 and liquid cool your chipset (north bridge and southbridge).

Hi Erik,

I'm pretty familiar with overclocking, and it's a known issue with this board. If you check out Kingpin's record breaking 3Dmark runs, they were all done with a 15x multiplier on his QX6700. It wasn't because he felt like keeping the FSB low. Thanks for the input though.

well I mean, what else am I supposed to say to that? Should I throw my X6800 in and prove that I know how to overclock? I shouldn't need to do that, haha.

Nah, it's nothing to do with temps, and yes it's with the latest BIOS. My chip doesn't go over 60C right now, and increasing voltage temps are still reasonable, but overclocking doesn't improve at all.
