heya all i think in my haste to get these rigs done i bought 2 seperate devices that can be handled by 1.

what im looking for is about as simple as possible hopefully.

1. use my Alienware 34" QD-OLED on 2 systems not at same time obviously but when i want to switch to say my linux AMD rig i can switch the output from 1-2 as needed.
2. share my Keyboard mouse with both systems when i need to switch.
3. maybe share my AMP/DAC based on which ever im using at the time not same time.

here is the KVM im looking at KVM and the cables UGREEN USB 3.0 A to A Male Cable, 6ft x2

or would i be better off with the UGREEN 8K Displayport KVM Switch be a better option?

to the guys to run kvms does this seem feasible as a option for what i wanna do?

I use remote desktop myself since my server is in another room. The screen resolution isn't great and animation as you move app window is pretty jank. Also getting Ubuntu remote desktop can be annoying. But I use this method because I still do stuff on my primary PC such as run Youtube. I like the first KVM because it supports 2 monitor but I trust UGREEN more.

see amazon didnt show me the ugreen untill i actually looked for it by name adding display port into title id use the hdmi one but prob is this Alienware monitor doesnt have hdmi 2.1 >< i ma just wait till one appears with DP 2.1a - HDMI 2.2 then relegate this one i have to my garage monitor. since its got basic disply port tech like hdmi 2.0 -DP 1.4

I bought this one a while back, I believe it's the same one you linked, very pleased with it. UGREEN one. I don't have my AMP/DAC hooked up to it though.

What I do is leave my AMP/DAC hooked to the main PC, and then use the speakers in my monitor that is shared for the laptop I KVM to. Works well and allows me to still get audio from both PCs at the same time. Convenient for playing music or watching having a video running on the non-focused one, and getting notification sounds from both. Laptop is work. Main in my home main PC, gaming, etc.

That KVM gets me my 4K 43" for the laptop, and it keeps me at 4K 144 Hz without issue on the main PC running through the KVM.

Some monitors have built-in KVM's now too, so that's another option if you are in the market for a new monitor anyways :)

Mine did, but it didn’t work well for some reason. And having to press a button on the monitor or using its remote ended up feeling cumbersome. But some people have success with theirs on monitors.

That UGREEN one has a little wire button you can connect a then put wherever, so I have the KVM tucked away and just the button next to the keyboard.

Got a new desk that'll let me do this very well why I was leaning towards it as well a single solution is far better then what I'm currently using. Just wanted to make sure it's least do the sharing of monitor KB/M
