I guess I'll bite on the thread.

Lawnmower is a small simple Husqvarna, liked it because it didn't have one of those newer EX series engines that is 'top and go' on the oil. As far as I am concerned, the only engines that should be designed to consume oil naturally are Rotary.
The 550EX B&S Motor is simple, efficient and easy to get parts for if required. Though I normally prefer Honda engines (quieter, usually better built) I've been sorely tested at some of their design issues on the Lawn Boy series (I've fixed the 3 at work too many times now), so that steered me back to B&S (My Murray made it 16 years with one of those motors, and it was the Deck that eventually rotted it, it still started on its dying day).

Power Tools? Stihl. 100 % born and raised that way. The Chainsaw at the cottage is from the 70's and it still works (and let me tell you, we have NOT treated that thing well over the years).

I have an FS56, BS56 and MS170. All running on 91.
They start, and just work. I can leave the fuel in over the fall into winter (2 year Open shelf life). And it has never caused an issue to this day. I love their hardware, and service level I get.

How can a craftsman lawn mower be so tricky to find parts for in 2024. The blade adaptor sheared the drive lug from inside this part, neither home hardware, Ace hardware, Cdn Tire, or home depot had one. Found this one on Amazon but now I'm waiting weeks to get it.

These old mowers need a suspension system, I've already replaced the cheap plastic wheels for steel ones with bearings, but the deck is cracked from all the bouncing over the years. Shows you if you don't abuse things they can last years if you do basic maintenance.
Don't think I'll buy another Craftsman however. If they are still out there.

A basic power smart 24' deck and the goal with mowers for me is to get a basic one with no bells or whistles so less to break, I have about 1/16 of an acre to mow plus I do my older neighbours. all the rest is Stihl chainsaw/weed wacker,
