cool. i havent done the math, but ppd per kwh and perhaps maybe for dollar spent on hardware should be decent.

10 e, I plan on running two GTX480 on the board. Do you have any idea of the loss of PPD on Bigadv vs the GPU gians ? I guess I will try it for myslf, but I was wondering if it was worth it running the GPU or not.

guys, for those that run the gpu client, do you get any squeaking from your card(s) with the following Project: 5784 (Run 8, Clone 58, Gen 318) ?

i usually never hear my current gpu's do any electrical noise, but this project is making them sing.

and its just this one ,at least that i noticed. nothing else makes em squeak, furmark,3dmark,game demo,anything.lol.

my GTX480 Squeak when Oc'ed and under full load. If it bothers you, underclock it. But I must say, the squeking is nothing compared to the 9800 Gx2 I had once....

You will have to use a program like Prifinity to mess with the clients' priorities to tweak with the PPD.

Those with a bunch of cores like on the SR-2 rigs might want to let us know the best mix of cores to use for the SMp and GPU clients.

Will be interesting to see what improvements come out of v7 with regards of setting priorities of the cores, etc.

If finished a P2685 in < 2 days but I didn't receive bonus points?
Do you fold with a passkey?
Did you fold 10 A2 or A3 work units within the deadline, before folding a bigadv?

If neither, you do not have access to the bonus points.

Straight from Stanford:

To qualify for bonus points, you must use a passkey and you must complete at least 10 SMP WUs using that passkey. You must also maintain at least an 80% completion rate. (SMP WUs can use FahCore_a1 _a2 or _a3.) Once you're qualified, the Bonus Points are applicable to either bigadv WUs (which currently use FahCore_a2) or those that use FahCore_a3.
edit: to answer the question in regards to GPU folding on the SR2; the Optimization thread @ [H] mentions some, but remember that the bonus is exponential; I don't believe any lost cycles to GPU folding could make up in the loss of CPU bonus points. As 10e mentionned, there is a member over there that it 190k ppd with his SR2 rig... but I'd say the average is over 100k ppd, mixing the various WUs.

It's somewhere between 250 - 300 PPD/watt which is very high. Something like 4 or 5 times the best GPUs out there.

I haven't measured it but many have said the SR-2 with two Xeons and NO GPU folding, around 3.6 - 3.8 ghz is using somewhere between 550 and 600 watts, while folding up to 140K PPD.

That's 140,000 PPD/550 watts (approximately) so 250+ points per watt.

Did you use a passkey AND finish 10 SMP work units prior? Did you download, finish and submit the work unit with the same user name and passkey? These could all affect that.

I once started a BigAdv work unit with my 10e account on team 33 but finished it with my 10eeee account on team 37412 (NCIX) and ended up with only 8955 points and no bonus.

The 68xx units seem to use almost NO CPU while folding, whereas the older units on GPU3 seemed to use a constant 3% of my Thuban (equal to 18% of a core) per GPU3 GTx 4xx client.

I was using WinAFC to manage priorities on the clients, and put the SMP client to the first 5 cores first, and the GPU3 clients on the last core, and now I don't have to do that any more since the 68xx units came out.

Currently I use Bill's priority manager (Big adv on Xeon L5639 + GTX480 X2) My L6639 is at 3.8 and I get roughly 30 K PPD BIGADV dont know wich projet tough, while the GTX480 do about 15 K PPD each. Is there a way to look at the completed units and the PPD it gave ? .

This is my gaming rig, so I will have the GTX on there. I'll try both a couple of days and see what is better. Altough, I dont have any way of calculating the power draw.
